Before flying out to Bangkok on a cheap Gulf Air business fare via Bahrain, I stopped for a visit at the Cathay Pacific First & Business lounge in Frankfurt terminal 2.
After the rather inconvenient arrival with the Ibis Kelsterbach shuttle I was looking forward to a nice breakfast, coffee and stable WIFI. Unfortunately I ended up finding only one of those at the lounge.

In late May I was flying to Bangkok (BKK) from Frankfurt (FRA) on a cheap Gulf Air fare via Bahrain (BAH). Unfortunately I was at the other side of Germany and the flight left rather early in the morning, too early to make it to Frankfurt on the same day.
While I would have loved to fly from an airport near to where I was, that doesn’t work as Germany has basically only two points from where to fly to Asia which is Frankfurt and Munich. To make sure I would be at the airport on time I decided to stay nearby the night before.

B&B Hotels is a relatively new hotel chain in Germany aiming to capture the market segment of budget conscious travellers that look for an overall decent standard and amenities.
I would put it in the same market segment as the Ibis hotels from Accor, which it seems to exceed as far as I see from pictures and reviews. However I wanted to check for myself and chose the newly opened B&B Hotel Hamburg Wandsbek.

Managing finance abroad and reducing fees is an important topic for the travelling public and an ever growing army of start-ups and established financial institutions advertise their solutions.
One of the more recent ones is Curve, while claiming to make your life easier by combining cards and strip fees this card is the one you do truly not want in your wallet.

After a short stay in Dresden I took the Euro City train to Prague, which has been on my list for a long time, to spend another two nights in the Ibis Prague Wenceslas Square.
While the Ibis brand is more catering to budget travel the rates for all hotels in Prague during my stay were off the charts and as I just wanted to get an impression of this vibrant city I gave the Ibis a try.

I have stayed in the Pullman Dresden Newa once before and wrote a review about the suite back then. For a quick two nights stay in this May I returned to Dresden and stayed once again at the Pullman.
As the hotel itself didn’t change since my last stay I will just keep this short and focus on the room itself. The Pullman is right behind the central station and extremely convenient to walk in the city centre and to the main attractions of Dresden.

For a short two nights stay in Hamburg in late summer last year I booked the INNSIDE by Melia Hamburg Hafen due to the reasonable price tag and it being a new hotel in a central location that I thought would be nice to check out.
From the pictures I could see that this hotel is following a very basic, northern sleek style, which I usually like. While the style was as expected everything else was unfortunately quite unpleasant.

I recently returned to the beautiful city of Munich in Germany and needed a hotel. On my last stay I booked the Novotel Munich City Arnulfpark and was very positively surprised. I also noticed that the building hosts an Ibis hotel as well, which takes up one half of the property.
As this was just a one night stay and Ibis hotels are very ‘upscale’ for the 3-stars category I decided to shake things up a bit and see how this hotel would compare to the Novotel.

On a recent return trip to Asia with Qatar Airways via Doha I was leaving from Frankfurt international airport (FRA) and had the chance to sample another lounge in terminal 1. I have been departing from this terminal before and wrote a review about one of the many Lufthansa lounges here.
I was a bit surprised about Qatar using terminal 1 in FRA as Qatar Airways is part of oneworld alliance and terminal 1 is primarily used by Lufthansa and other Star Alliance affiliates. I guess that is also the reason Qatar uses the Air Canada lounge since there are probably no non Star Alliance lounges in this terminal.

As frequent readers of this blog now I am often travelling from Germany to Lisbon, Portugal and vise versa. The route has not really many options if you want to fly in a full service carrier since only Portugals national airline TAP Portugal and Lufthansa fly.
I am not a big fan of TAP Portugal as mentioned several times before due to their LCC alike price unbundling, rather bad service, bad on time track record and outdated fleet. While said fleet should have been retrofitted with new seats by the beginning of this year that hasn’t happened. When I flew from Hamburg to Lisbon in August I finally got lucky tho and boarded onto one of the updated A319 in the TAP fleet.
